Urban Throwdown — Growth Story (2023–2026)
Urban Throwdown held its inaugural edition in 2023 with 20 teams and 81 athletes — a grassroots beginning that laid the foundation for what was to come. By 2024, the event had more than doubled in size to 49 teams and 195 athletes, a 141% year-on-year surge driven by word-of-mouth within Singapore’s growing CrossFit community.
2025 saw continued organic growth, with the field expanding to 65 teams and 260 athletes — a further 33% increase — as Urban Throwdown firmly established itself as Singapore’s go-to CrossFit competition and began attracting athletes from across the region.
2026 marked a landmark edition. With the introduction of a new Fitness division designed to open the event to a wider audience, Urban Throwdown reached 105 teams and over 400 athletes — a 58% jump in a single year and a fivefold increase from its founding edition. Athletes from 27 nationalities competed, cementing the event’s status as a regional destination competition. Year-on-year retention hit a record 36%, reflecting a deeply loyal and growing athlete community. In a further milestone, 2026 also sees the introduction of an Individual category — something the community has long requested — opening the competition for the first time to solo athletes competing in their own right, alongside the established team format.
In just four editions, Urban Throwdown has grown from a local club competition to Southeast Asia’s largest CrossFit Licensed Event — and it is only getting started.
